Pirate & Rum Festival

The Old Courts Festivals continue this time with The Pirate & Rum Festival. The finest selection of weird and wonderful rum from across the seven seas and live performances from Mark Radcliffe’s “Galleon Blast” and the brilliantly witty “Jollyboat” will warm keep you swinging ‘til the early hours.
Following on from the mania of the sold out Gin Festivals, We are delighted to announce our very first Pirate & Rum Festival! We will be shipping Rum in from around the globe for you connoisseurs to enjoy. There will be the old faithfuls, the new and exciting and the weird and wonderful from land afar to celebrate this olde favourite. What Rum Festival would be complete without pirate entertainment! We have secured the services of the most notorious gang of scallywags to entertain you into the little hours. See you there shipmates!
Galleon Blast
Press ganged into service by an unscrupulous gangmaster from the Spanish Main (well….Knutsford actually), the swarthy seadogs of Galleon Blast occasionally get shore leave to ply their raggle-taggle trade wherever folk will have them. With a selection of rum-soaked songs and shanties, the Blasters whip up a squally strumming storm to get all and sundry friggin’ in the riggin’. With traditional tunes and many a seafaring classic from The Dubliners, The Waterboys, The Pogues, Thin Lizzy, The Fisherman’s Friends and Ewan MacColl; you can be sure that these diddly diddly deck-hands will get feet tapping from the poop to the crow’s nest. Galleon Blast feature banjos, whistles, accordions and fiddles from members of The Family Mahone, Full House and Mark Radcliffe and Foes, including the pirate dj himself Mr.Radcliffe – the Jack Sparrow of the Radio 2 Folk Show. Actually, make that the Jack Duckworth of the Radio 2 Folk Show. So, it’s all aboard the good ship Blast for a full-on broadside of buccaneering beat.
Jollyboat are the UK's top comedy pirate geek rock duo. Mixing comedy, live music, visuals, audience interaction and a little behind-the-scenes computer programming, Jollyboat put on a show unlike anything you've seen before!
They have performed at Glastonbury among many other festivals, won the UK Musical Comedy Awards, and toured Europe & Australia. Jollyboat's act is energetic, visual and packed with fast-paced gags. They always have fun, and it's highly infectious!
