Wigan Groundwork Conservation Volunteers

Groundwork is an environmental and social charity aiming to change lives and change places. We offer a wide range of volunteering and training opportunities. Check our website for further details: https://www.groundwork.org.uk/sites/clm

We undertake a range of environmental and conservation projects within the Wigan borough. Two current volunteering opportunities are Amberswood in Hindley, and Elnup Wood in Shevington.

Groundwork works with the Friends of Amberswood to manage the site for wildlife and recreation - there are always a range of tasks that need to be done, so anyone willing to volunteer their time would be appreciated. Volunteer sessions are Tuesdays at 10am, meeting at the Crompton Street entrance to Amberswood - meeting place may vary depending on the task, so please contact for more information.

Elnup Wood is a Groundwork-owned site in Shevington used by local residents as a walking trail. The paths, boardwalks and habitat need managing and maintaining. The first volunteer session for this site will be on Thursday 20th February, meeting at 10am at the entrance on Parkbrook Lane.

Please contact if you are interested in volunteering with us.
