The Old Courts
Our building was built is 1887 and retains much of its original charm, including a Victorian courtroom and adjoining prison cells. It currently houses an art gallery, artist studios, two music venues, bars, band practice rooms and cellar cinema with plans to have an art café and theatre in the near future. All of your ticket, drinks, venue hire, and donation money go back into the project!
Not many people are aware that we are a community interest company and that 100% of our profits go back in to the project, the arts, the community and the up keep of the facilities. Profits support arts and wellbeing activities including: drama classes, School of Rock, Over 50s Jamming Sessions, music therapy & workshops as well as supporting creative business and individuals who want training and work experience.
We believe we can make a big difference to Wigan and the local arts scene. We really want to engage with likeminded people who want to get involved in The Old Courts so if you have an idea or thoughts on our facilities and activities please get in touch.

We host a variety of events and groups that vary in their cost. A lot of events are free! Such as our friendly Open Mic nights on every Tuesday from 7.30pm, where you can come and join in or just sit and enjoy some great live music. Entry to the art gallery is always free (check opening times at www.theoldcourts.com). Other events have a reasonable charge that covers our costs and makes sure that artists are paid fairly - such as our regular Friday Night Live gigs each week, where we charge £3 to watch 3 great bands. It is always a good idea to check our website for upcoming events as we are always planning something new and exciting!
