Greenslate Community Farm
Greenslate Community Farm is a 30 acre community resource, providing volunteering, training, education and therapeutic activities, as well as providing a naturally grown food to the local community. We operate a day care service for adults with learning difficulties, who take part In meaningful work around site. we offer allotments, and provide a hub for ideas sharing and development of community enterprises. We offer meaningful work in a supportive therapeutic environment, for groups and individuals with additional needs. Activities include horticulture, woodland walks, animal husbandry, craft, catering, woodwork, pond dipping, travel training and life skills. we currently accept referrals from social services, healthcare professionals and self-referrals. Our working days are Monday to Friday 10.00am until 16.00pm. We work on a ratio of 1-3 (staff to learner) to ensure that the learners day is not only personal and enjoyable but that they receive the correct support and attention throughout their day. We also have now open our cafe and farm shop housed in a unique Straw Bale eco build selling fresh organically grown produce whilst supporting adults with additional needs to work in a real life working environment either in the cafe or farm shop.
