Autism Friends

Autism Friends is an initiative created by Wigan Council, Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles and the Adult Autism Partnership Board to help people to become more aware of Autism in their communities. The sessions are free, one hour long, and give the audience a brief insight into Autism, and encourage positive associations of Autism. We are striving to encourage this borough to become more Autism Friendly in everyday life, with businesses holding Quiet Hours, and to encourage employability of people living with Autism.

Autism Friends sessions help people to better understand how people living with Autism will encounter everyday situations which encourages people to think differently about Autism. We provide awareness sessions to help to break down barriers for people with Autism and help them to be better connected in their communities. .

To become an Autism Friend, please visit www.autismfriendlywigan.co.uk and we can start the process off of you becoming one of our Autism Friends and a part of our initiative to make this borough Autism Friendly.
