Pemberton Memorial Garden

The memorial garden was originally the site of the first Methodist church in Pemberton, when they opened a new church it was demolished and the site became a burial ground. All those resting in the yard were relocated to St Johns Churchyard. When the Pemberton Community Association was established, they took on the renovation of the site, and applied to Awards for All for funding. St Johns pupils were involved in designing the garden, and a part of every child's drawing was incorporated in the final design. The garden was reopened by the then Mayor of Wigan, Eunice Smethurst and dedicated by the late Revd Ken Sowerby of Trinity Methodist Church, Pemberton and Revd Colin Oxenforth of St Johns Church, Pemberton.

In 2015 a statue was installed in the memorial garden of a soldier, a regular memorial service is held their on or close to the 11th November. We are always looking for members to help maintain the garden on a regular basis, if you can help, please contact one of the team.
